Garden makeover at Maple Cross
At Footsteps, we place a huge value on outside space, and our plans to continually offer new learning experiences are based around the great facilities we have. But there is always more to be done. With the Easter holidays in full swing, the dedicated footsteps team pulled up their sleeves and set to work creating a brand new decking and bark play area.
Turning their attention to creating the covered decking area, the team had big plans. With a focus on free-flow play and on spending quality time outside (whatever the weather), it was very important that their outside area provided a safe and covered space for plenty of opportunities for fun and learning.
With plenty of elbow grease, and a whole lot of love, the team set to work on creating a place the children would love to spend time. As a result of all off their efforts the children now have a fantastic new decking area able to be used for tuff trays, water play, ride on vehicles and lots of time with friends.
The barked area included some log stepping stones and tyres for developing physical awareness, risk taking and gross motor skills. It was also the perfect place to play with our popular construction vehicles.
Manager Kathy Reynolds said “The garden looks absolutely fantastic, and the staff and children are absolutely thrilled. The team, which included Kelly Carter, Paul Smith and Grandad Ron worked really hard and have created something that will benefit the children for many years to come. It really was a team effort and we are very lucky to have people that care so deeply about providing a fun and stimulating environment”.
