Unlike other sites that follow a Forest School approach, Chalfont St Peter has its very own dedicated Forest School area, designed to give children uninterrupted time to connect with nature.
Forest School principles underpin everything we do outdoors:
Children experience a wide variety of outdoor exploration including, den building and woodwork, tool use such as peelers, whittlers and mallets (with supervision), bug hunting, nature crafts and outdoor storytelling and seasonal nature learning in all weathers.
We welcome children from 3 months to 8 years, providing continuity of care from the baby room through to school and wraparound support and holiday clubs. Our curriculum is guided by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and brought to life through hands-on play and real-life learning experiences. Each room is carefully designed to support emotional security, communication skills, creativity and confidence from the very beginning.
One of our parents said “Firstly, I wanted to say how lucky we feel to have had the chance to get to know you all at the nursery. You’re all incredible and the support you have shown my family has been overwhelming. My son has come on leaps and bounds since starting with you, I could’nt be more proud of him”.
We offer a range of sessions to support working families and busy home life. Funded places are available for eligible children , and wraparound care can also be arranged depending on availability.
“We have been with Footsteps for the past 7 years and they have been amazing with all 3 of my children. The staff are kind, caring, and approachable and they create a stimulating and nurturing environment for the children. They plan and deliver lovely activities and provide regular updates about the children’s progress. My children have always been so happy at Footsteps and look forward to their days at nursery each week.“
“Both our sons go to Footsteps and we couldn’t be happier with our choice of nursery. Our children learn through play and have so much fun throughout the day. The staff are highly professional and make learning fun for the children. They have helped my eldest son to develop his social skills and become more confident. It is such a comfort to know our sons are so well looked after and enjoy their time at nursery. “
“We have both of our boys at Footsteps in Chalfont since they just turned 1 and 2 and a half years later – the team feel like an extension of our family. They are absolutely amazing and down to earth, really get to know the child and their strengths and needs and embrace every part of them. We are confident leaving one boy’s in the morning they are going to have so much fun all day and be well cared for.“
“I was terrified to leave my daughter with people I didnt know and being a first time mum, it was all new to me. But the care, love and support has been incrediable and I am so thankful that we have chosen Footsteps to look after her. She has bloomed into such an amazing child and part of that is down to the time she spends with everyone. I cant wait to see how much she thrives into the Toddler Room. I sing your praises to all my friends who are looking for nurseries.“
At Footsteps Chalfont St Peter, our aim is that every family and child to take away lots of happy memories from footsteps and every child:

“I have been in childcare since the age of 23. I have a range of experience and qualification which I use to run the nursery on a day to day basis. I enjoy watching the children join as a baby and develop through the years to leave and go to school and know I had a part in that. I feel that having a good rapport with parent, helps us to make sure they feel happy about leaving their children in our safe hands. Here at footsteps provide a home from home environment with a long standing team and I as a manager and very proud of my team.”
