Celebrating Father’s Day at Footsteps
At Footsteps, we know that every family is unique, and Father’s Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate all the incredible male role models who make such a positive difference in our children’s lives. Whether it’s a dad, stepdad, grandad, uncle, older brother, foster carer or another special person, we love recognising the important relationships that help our children feel safe, supported and loved.
Preparing for a Special Day
In the lead-up to Father’s Day, our children had been busy creating cards and gifts to surprise their recipient with. Before the celebrations, we also welcomed lots of mums and other family members into nursery for special craft sessions, where they enjoyed helping the children make Father’s Day cards. These sessions were a lovely opportunity to spend quality time together, encourage creativity and build excitement for the day ahead.
The children took great pride in choosing colours, decorating their cards and talking about the people they were making them for. These conversations encouraged language development while helping children express their feelings for those they love.
Stay and Play Celebrations
Our Father’s Day Stay and Play sessions were a fantastic success, with so many families joining us. It was wonderful to see dads, grandads and other special family members spending quality time alongside the children, exploring activities, sharing stories and making happy memories together.
The sessions provided the opportunity to experience nursery through their child’s eyes, whether building towers, getting creative with crafts, exploring our outdoor spaces or simply enjoying time together.
Sharing Stories Together
Books play an important role in helping children understand relationships, emotions and family life. Throughout the week we enjoyed reading a variety of stories celebrating fathers, families and the many different people who care for us.
Story time sparked wonderful discussions about what makes each family special. The children loved talking about the people they enjoy spending time with and the activities they do together.
These conversations help children develop confidence, communication skills and an understanding that every family is different.
Celebrating Every Family
At Footsteps, we believe it is important that every child feels represented and included. We recognise that families come in many different shapes and sizes, and Father’s Day means something different to every child.
Our celebrations focus on recognising the love, care, and support that children receive from the important people in their lives. By celebrating all positive male role models, we ensure every child has the opportunity to feel proud as they share their special relationships with friends and our team who do such an amazing job of facilitating these experiences.
Thank You
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who supports, encourages and inspires our children every day.
We hope you had s wonderful Father’s Day!
