Footsteps Aylesbury – Our Trip to Green Dragon Eco farm
At Footsteps we love to provide new experiences for the children and our regular trips are no exception. On Wednesday 6th February we got back to nature at the Green Dragon Eco Farm, Buckinghamshire.
We hopped on the Footsteps fun bus and packed our day full of fun, laughter and a whole host of animal friends. Dragon Eco Farm is the perfect location to teach the children how to look after animals and protect our surrounding wildlife. As well as the animals, there is also a fantastic nature trail through the paddocks where they can learn how the farm’s vegetables are grown.
Throughout the day, expert handlers were on hand to explain what the children can do to help and all about the animals that live there. We met a variety of animals, such as a week old baby lamb, pigs, hens, Shetland ponies, sheep and goats out on the farm. We were lucky enough to spot some fresh eggs, but unfortunately we didn’t manage to spot a green dragon.
We had an amazing visit to the reptile house where those who felt brave enough could get hands on with the snakes. We trotted on for some equine fun as we got to groom the ponies and meet the resident donkeys. Last stop before our indoor picnic lunch was a flying visit to see some of the amazing birds of prey on display. After enjoying our lunch it was time to let off some energy at the soft play before we headed home. The children had a fabulous time – climbing, sliding and spinning through the adventure courses and ball pits. As you can imagine there were quite a few who took the chance for a cheeky nap on the way home!
We want to extend our thanks to the friendly and knowledgeable staff who helped make our day such a fantastic experience for all the children. For more information about the farm you can visit their website. https://www.greendragonecofarm.co.uk/
