Footsteps Nurseries celebrate Chinese New Year
Footsteps Nurseries at Chalfont, Aylesbury and Maple Cross enjoyed Chinese New Year celebrations on Tuesday February 5 and these will continue until 12th February as part of their Understanding of the World, for EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage).
The wide range of activities put on by the Footsteps teams allowed the children numerous opportunities to discuss and participate in a variety of traditions and experiences that they may not experience in their home life.
All of the children from babies through to pre-schoolers all joined in trying a selection of Chinese foods, various themed arts and crafts, practising using chopsticks as part of their fine motor development, story time and had lots of fun with a dragon dance! Children were able to come to nursery in traditional dress and some of the lovely parents also came in to tell the children how they were celebrating at home.
Area Manager, Kelly Carter, said: “We always try to incorporate celebrations and festivals from a wide range of cultures so that the children can gain an appreciation and understanding of the many traditions and people of the world. Celebrating Chinese New Year is always fun with the children really enjoying their food tasting at morning snack time.”
From lanterns, to artwork celebrating the Year of the Pig, blossom trees to dragons the walls at Footsteps Nurseries are certainly full of colour to brighten up the winter days!
Gong Hei Fat Choy 新年快乐 from all the team at Footsteps!
