Summer fun in the sun at Farnborough
Its finally come to the end of the summer term – and what a last few weeks we have had! We love to have fun at Footsteps Farnborough and come rain or shine that never stops. We have both extremes over the past few weeks and have gone from basking in the sun enjoying our outside spaces to dancing in the torrential rain – whatever the weather there ARE amazing opportunities to be had!
At Farnborough we love to take natural resources and transform them into materials to inspire engage teach our children about the world around us. Recently we have been flower arranging, making fruits into paints, and enjoying all that Forest School experiences have to offer.
We have loved spending time reading books together to lead our learning in so many directions too. Our favourite is “Supertato” at the moment, so of course we couldn’t resist making our own! This interest in a topic can spark so many more, and it is incredible to see where children’s imaginations can lead our only too willing staff. We have been led into cooking activities – creating potato people using a variety of materials and resources, using the theme of the book to learning about caring for others, as well as lots of SUPER role play.
We absolutely loved celebrating the team’s success in Euros – singing at the tops of our voices to lots of football songs, learning about patriotism and supporting our favourite teams. We had a great opportunity to talk about a wide range of British values during this time too. We loved creating fun learning opportunities by making flags, playing football, aiming for the goal, avoiding obstacles – all helping to improve our physical skills, coordination developing our muscles, strength and agility.
We know that when children start at Footsteps, they already have a different range of experiences in learning and play. Known as “Cultural capital” our aim is always to build on these early experiences. We strive to give our children opportunities to be curious, explore, try new things and most importantly experience awe and wonder. As part of this, we have enjoyed watching our tadpoles transform into frogs as well as lots of role play: learning about healthy eating at our grocers
eating ice-cream at our shop, fixing our cars in the garage and MOT centre and making pizzas in our homemade pizza oven.
In our last week we will have our graduation party as we say a sad but excited goodbye to our children off to Big School.
We will miss them all, but are so proud of all they have achieved. A huge thanks to all the team that as ever go above and beyond to ensure our children get the very best out of Footsteps to take with them on their next chapter. We also wanted to thank our fantastic families for their support during what has been a very challenging 2021. We value and appreciate all of you.
We have a few spaces remaining for September so please get in touch with the team if you know anyone who might benefit from all we have to offer.
Have a great Summer,
Team Footsteps.
