Wonderful Weather
Well it has certainly been a month of 2 halves when it comes to the weather – from extreme wind and rain to beautiful sunshine. With our brand new covered garden area and gorgeous outside space – we have been enjoying our free-flow play whatever the weather!
As part of our weather topic we set up a weather station in our role-play area. The children could help choose what the weather was like and what they thought it might be like later on. We learnt lots of new words like temperature and meteorologist to extend our language skills talking about the weather. We also enjoyed stories like “Rain, Rain, Go Away”.
During the wilder weather we have been enjoying Goldiliocks and the 3 Bears – including lots of role play and arts and crafts. It has been great for our number work too! We have had some great tuff trays and messy play thanks to our imaginative and creative team.
Having fun in the sun we have been getting physical as we have been enjoying our tennis sessions, playing on the bikes, painting with wellies outside, bug hunting, water play gardening, building with bricks and some very good improvised robots patrolling the garden.
As the weather heats up it has also given us the opportunity to learn how to stay safe in the sun – putting on sun cream, wearing hats, staying hydrated and staying in the shade where possible. We can’t wait to see more sunny smiles from our children as the sun stays to play.
