A new term full of adventures at Footsteps
As the winter holidays come to an end, Footsteps is buzzing with anticipation for the new term ahead. With a calendar filled with exciting activities and learning opportunities, the children, parents, and staff alike are eagerly looking forward to the upcoming months.
Welcoming New Faces:
One of the highlights of the new term is the arrival of new children. Welcoming fresh faces and helping them settle into their surroundings is always a rewarding experience. The community of staff and peers is ready to welcome them with a host of new activities, skills and play – creating a smooth transition into a sense of belonging and friendship among our little ones.
Growing Green Thumbs:
As part of the transition into the spring term, we are gearing up for an exciting venture into gardening. The children will have the chance to prepare veggie patches for planting, and germinating seeds – fostering a connection with nature and an understanding of where food comes from. This hands-on experience promises to be both educational and fun.
Celebrating Love:
Valentine’s Day in February brings an opportunity to celebrate love and friendship in our settings. Creative arts and crafts activities will be organized, allowing the children to express their affection for their friends and family. It’s a time to share kindness and joy within our walls and wonderful outside spaces with each other and with our loved family members we will be inviting in.
Oral Health and Wellness:
After the festive indulgence of the Christmas season, we are focusing on oral health themes. Educating children about the importance of taking care of their teeth and making healthy choices is a crucial part of their overall well-being.
Ready, Steady, Read:
We love to read at Footsteps and this term is packed with adventure after adventure as we turn the pages into new worlds. At Farnborough we have a storytelling week planned at the end of January where our fantastic parents come in to share their favourite stories with everyone. A sponsored Ready Steady Read event at Oving also promises to be an exciting challenge for the little readers. This event sets the stage for the upcoming Book Week and World Book Day in March, encouraging a passion for reading, new vocabulary and storytelling among the children.
Culinary Adventures:
Pancake Day is eagerly anticipated, offering a delicious opportunity for the children to try their hands at flipping pancakes. This culinary adventure not only provides a tasty treat but also teaches valuable cooking skills.
Exploring Cultures:
Chinese New Year 2024 is a special occasion at Footsteps Nursery. With the vibrancy of dragons and lanterns galore, children will embark on a cultural journey, learning about traditions, trying new foods, and gaining a deeper appreciation for diversity. It’s an enriching experience that broadens their understanding of celebrations from around the world.
Winter Wonderland Walks:
The winter season brings frosty walks and delightful visits to local wildlife, including pigs and ducks. These outdoor adventures provide the children with a hands-on experience of the world around them and enable us to collect natural treasures for our craft activities too. These outdoor activities not only enhance their knowledge of the natural world but also promote a sense of responsibility and stewardship for the environment.
Celebrating Families and Female Role Models:
March will be a special month at Footsteps Nursery, focusing on the theme of families and female role models. The children will engage in activities that celebrate the important women in their lives, culminating in Mother’s Day activities, including stay-and-play sessions, delightful tea parties, as well as, grab and go breakfasts for our guests.
As we embark on this exciting new term, there’s a sense of anticipation and joy in the air. Footsteps is dedicated to providing a nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and create lasting memories. The upcoming months promise to be filled with laughter, discovery, and the joy of shared experiences. We can’t wait to share some of these with you in more detail.
