OFSTED report praises children’s learning progress

Following an inspection in February, Footsteps Nursery is proud to receive a “Good” Ofsted report across all areas.
The overall effectiveness of the early years provision at Footsteps was described as “effective and positive” by the inspectors. The report stated that children are provided with an invaluable start in their learning and development through the encouraging and enthusiastic approach from a team of highly qualified practitioners who effectively implement the Early Years Foundation Stage.
The nursery is led and managed by a dedicated practitioner who has a very clear vision for the future development of this innovative setting. The leadership team support staff well and identify relevant training, for example, to improve staff’s teaching skills and nurture team objectives. They are well supported to extend their own learning and development and interests. This helps promote a highly positive atmosphere where children and staff feel secure, valued and happy.
The children are provided with good resources and equipment which are effectively implemented to support the promotion of learning and development. Staff respond well to individual children’s ideas and interests ensuring the children make good progress towards the early learning goals. This means that ALL children were identified as making good progress.
Successful partnerships with parents and carers, enhance the children’s time spent at the nursery, fully supporting their progress. Parents express a high regard for the dedication, support and friendliness of the staff working with their children.
The children are kept safe and secure through stringent health and safety procedures. They develop a good understanding of how to keep themselves safe. The inspector highlighted the outside learning opportunities as a major strength of the nursery.
