Royal Celebrations at Footsteps
As we come to the end of the month we wanted to reflect on some of the wonderful things we have done at Footsteps Maple Cross. With the arrival of a very exciting piece of post this morning, one of the highlights was certainly our Royal Tea Party we had in honour of the Queen’s Birthday.
With our colourful bunting hung and birthday banners on full display, the children got to work making jam sandwiches. They really enjoyed spreading the butter and Jam, and some of them even managed to maintain more bread than filling! We also iced fairy cakes and added sprinkles. With donations for the tea party also provided by our wonderful parents, we had a right Royal knees-up. We had made a special Birthday card and sent it to Buckingham Palace for the Queen. We hope she saw it!
It was a fantastic opportunity to talk about so many areas with the children – the importance of our Royal family, traditions, how we celebrate Birthdays, some cooking skills, working together and also enjoying a lovely time with all of our friends.
Manager Kathy Reynolds said “We were so proud of their enthusiasm and willingness to learn all about our Royal Family. It was a fabulous day and the staff, as always, helped to make it a really special experience”.
We were absolutely thrilled to receive a thank you letter from Buckingham palace and we loved telling the children just how special this was. They are all hoping reaching 100 will come soon for their next one!
A huge thanks to all the children and parents for their involvement in making our celebration such a wonderful occasion.
