Celebrating Father’s Day at Footsteps Nursery: A Day Full of Love and Fun
At Footsteps Nursery, we believe that family is at the heart of a child’s development and well-being. Father’s Day is a special occasion that allows us to honour and appreciate the fathers and father figures who play an essential role in our children’s lives. This year, we celebrated Father’s Day with a range of activities designed to create lasting memories and strengthen the bond between children and their dads. From card making and family discussions to inviting dads for playtime and food, our Father’s Day celebration was filled with love, laughter, and joyful moments.
Card Making: Expressing Love and Creativity
One of the highlights of our Father’s Day celebration was the card making activities. Our little ones put their artistic skills to work, using colourful papers, stickers, and other craft materials to create personalized cards for their fathers. This activity allowed the children to express their love and appreciation for their dads in a creative way. The cards were filled with heartfelt messages and drawings, showcasing the unique bond between each child and their father.
Discussing Families: Embracing Diversity and Inclusion
We believe in fostering a sense of belonging and celebrating the diverse families within our nursery community. During our Father’s Day activities, we encouraged open discussions about families, highlighting that families come in different shapes, sizes, and structures. By engaging in these conversations, children gained a deeper understanding and appreciation for the diverse range of family units that exist, promoting empathy, respect, and inclusivity.
Let’s Stay & Play
Across our Footsteps sites we celebrated with a Father’s Day breakfast or picnic and a Stay & Play session. Families gathered together to enjoy a delicious spread of food, sharing quality time and strengthening their connections. We were able to visit the park, enjoy activities such as construction, role play at the barbers, making fruit kebabs. This communal time allowed children and fathers to relax, unwind, and savour the joys of being together.
We loved watching our Dads take time to read with the children. Dads took on the role of storytellers, reading books and sharing stories with the children. This activity not only fostered a love for reading but also provided an opportunity for Dads to bond with their children in a meaningful way. The children were captivated by the stories and cherished the special moments spent with them.
Active Fun and Nourishing Connections
We understand the importance of physical activity and outdoor play in a child’s development. To make Father’s Day even more exciting, we were able to use our football pitch to allow dads and children could team up and enjoy some active fun together. The game was filled with laughter, cheering, and teamwork, creating unforgettable memories for everyone involved.
At Footsteps Nursery our aim is to nurture strong family connections and provide an enriching environment where children can grow, learn, and thrive with the love and support of their fathers or male role models. We want to thank our teams for all the very special ways they enable this to happen.
