Footsteps Celebrate The Jubilee!
We love to teach our children about traditions, celebrations, history and culture – from the UK and around the world. Celebrating 70 years of our Queen on the throne gave us some amazing opportunities for learning, conversation, activities and most of all lots of fun as we finalised our celebrations with a party. At every Footsteps site, flags were flying high as we found exciting ways to celebrate!
It was quite the lead up to the final celebrations. We saw pride in abundance as our incredible teams came up with creative ways to prepare. There was face painting, coloured flags and a wide variety of decorated hats and crowns.
We had castles made out of bricks, card and Duplo, learnt about the Queen’s horses with small world animal play, we made themed sun catchers and explored red, white and blue tuff trays and we read books to inspire what we knew about the Queen.
The children loved making homemade party chains in red, white and blue, giant British flags and a huge Jubilee Party signs covered in glitter. We bought the activities out to Forest School too, as we made rustic crowns, decorated with items we foraged for.
We ended the week with a host of royal parties. We saw a sea of white, red and blue as our children came dressed to celebrate. There were traditional afternoon teas with china tea sets and traditional British buffets, there were cakes and games and singing. We even had some homemade thrones and spectres to create some brilliant photo opportunities.
Some parents were able to join our celebrations too and come and play – joining in the fun and laughter as we explored lots of creativity together. Thank you to those that came and made it such a special day.
But mostly as ever, a huge thanks to all our teams who put so much into making such special memories for all of our children. We hope that everyone has a special time during their own celebrations too.
