Joy in July: Catch up on our latest News at Footsteps Maple Cross
On the 1st of July we were excited to open our doors to our children again. We had missed them so much over the lockdown period and wasted no time getting back to what we do best – fun, creativity, laughter and learning!
We quickly settled both bubbles back into preschool life. They were so receptive to talking about hygiene and staying safe, and we loved hearing about all of their lockdown achievements too!
We focused on spending as much time outside and on child-led activities as we could, and we were so proud of the creativity and ideas that the children came up with to incorporate into their play. Our mud kitchen was very busy indeed and produced a fine selection of pies and ice cream.
Maths activities saw our bug hunt produce lots of worms, ladybirds, woodlouse, snails and earwigs which the children enjoyed counting. It’s so much fun to see how much wildlife lives in our gardens and we were impressed with their knowledge – obviously a popular home-learning activity! The children decided we should even have a Footsteps Forest. They asked and we listened – so now we are busy creating an overgrown area with long grasses and mud to bug hunt in.
We have also been busy with outside painting sessions, potion making with leaves and mint, chalk mark-making, water play, messy play and even producing made some gorgeous homemade lavender bags. We like to think we have sent them home muddy, happy and ready for bed!
As the end of term on the 21st July draws near, we want to take the opportunity to thank all of our talented, dedicated and caring team who invest so much of themselves into ensuring that all of our children have positive experiences and love their time at Footsteps – we certainly love having them.
We are looking forward to a more normal operation in September and the reopening of our breakfast and afterschool clubs. More details to follow on the list of clubs available and applications for these sessions.
Enjoy your Summer and see you in September!
