End of term at Footsteps Farnborough
It has been a strange few weeks at Preschool while we adapt to “the new normal” but we are so proud of how the children have responded to new routines and a change in the environment. However, the fun at Footsteps has not been dampened and we’ve been busy learning, exploring and developing friendships.
We’ve been planting our vegetable garden and the children have been absolutely delighted to see the changes in our growing fruit and veg. We have been spending as much time outside as possible and using this opportunity to learn about growth and decay, life cycles and caring for living things. We’ve even had live frogs with us for a week, and the children have loved caring for them, feeding them and watching them grow!
We have made some staffing changes in our commitment to ensure our Forest schooling continues. Staff have been fully embracing nature and real-life experiences with the children, with lots of stonework, art using mud, leaves, sticks and ferns. We have also been making some beautiful wind chimes and dream catchers. We are lucky that our Footsteps family is made up of a wide array of Forest School expertise and we have been utilising these skills from members of staff at our sister nurseries to maximise our learning opportunities. Watch this space for more Forest School fun.
For the children that are leaving us at the end of term to start their next chapter at Big School we will be holding a graduation ceremony to celebrate all of their achievements. We will be very sad to say goodbye but we have thoroughly enjoyed our time with them all and look forward to hearing all about how they get on in their new schools. They are all awesome and we know they will thrive.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding over the last few months. We are so glad that everyone has kept safe and well.
